Carb overload 🥯🍞🥖🥨🥐 I’ve been soaking in China’s baked goods. Huge variety from novel creations like a Tomahawk Steak Wellington Croissant (beats a pie) to traditional baked delicacies (e.g. meat mooncakes) to fusion products tailored to local tastes/culture. New Zealand is a major supplier of bakery ingredients to China, as highlighted during New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s recent Made With Care Bakery Festival in Shanghai attended by Trade and Agriculture Minister Hon Todd McClay. The upcoming 27th Bakery China expo will be another platform to showcase our premium gourmet ingredients. China’s baked goods sector is forecast to grow to nearly NZ$83 billion by 2025. There are more than 1,650 bakeries and pastry stores in Shanghai alone according to one estimate, and that’s not counting the multitude of other cafés, eateries and online channels where baked goods also retail. #China #Dairy #Trade #NZExports

And that's a wrap! Last week was a busy week of the #NZSEAMission2024. Congratulations to our business delegation who, along with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Minister Simon Watts, and MP Paulo Garcia have concluded their five-day programme of Singapore, Thailand and The Philippines. The mission successfully raised the profile of our exporters in these markets and increased awareness of our premium products and services amongst high-level business and government contacts. Some of the highlights included the New Zealand Gala Dinner in Singapore, the Golden Ticket Reception in Bangkok, and the New Zealand Business Reception in Manila, where our delegates promoted New Zealand as a sustainable tech innovator, as a source of safe and high-quality food, and as an attractive destination for tourism, study and investment. But the work isn’t over! Our delegates made a significant number of new connections with potential partnerships to pursue, and several announced exciting ventures, office openings, signed MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding) that will keep them busy over the next few months.
